- Basic Policy
ZEBRA HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (ZEBRA Group) continues to take on the challenge of creating new value while respecting and recognizing one another under its corporate philosophy of “和と挑戦 (Wa-toh-chow-sen)”. We believe that “和(Wa)”, which arises from connections between people, fosters relationships built on mutual understanding and respect. We also recognize that the accumulation of efforts to embrace and appreciate diverse values, individuality, and backgrounds contributes to the realization of a society in which all human rights are respected. Leveraging our unique strengths while adapting to changes in society and the times, the Zebra Group will continue to challenge itself to create new value for the next 50 and 100 years. This Policy sets out the Zebra Group’s fundamental approach and responsibilities regarding respect for human rights, and serves as a commitment to work together with all stakeholders toward achieving this goal.
The ZEBRA Group respects human rights and fulfills its responsibilities as a company based on the following international standards.
· International Labour Organization (ILO) “Core Labor Standards”
· Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
· International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR)
· OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct
· United Nations “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs)”
The ZEBRA Group is committed to protecting the rights of workers and maintaining a fair working environment free from discrimination in accordance with these standards.
- Commitment to All Stakeholders
The ZEBRA Group will provide its employees with appropriate education and capacity building on human rights and opportunities to deepen their understanding. In addition, we seek to gain the understanding and cooperation of our supply chain partners regarding the importance of respecting human rights. As a member of the local communities in which we operate, we will engage with a wide range of civil society and stakeholders on human rights issues related to
our business. Through these activities, we aim to promote respect for human rights.
- Core Human Rights Respect Areas
The ZEBRA Group respects and promotes human rights in the following areas.
(1) Prohibition of forced labor and child labor
- We do not tolerate any form of forced labor, child labor, or human trafficking.
- We respect the freedom of our workers.
(2) Prohibition of discrimination and respect for diversity
- We prohibit discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or other factors.
- We will promote a comprehensive and fair working environment and respect diversity.
(3) Safety and health in the working environment
- We will maintain a safe and hygienic working environment and protect the health of workers.
- We will comply with the laws and regulations of each country regarding working hours, wages, and welfare benefits.
(4) Freedom of association
- We respect the rights of employees to freely associate and advocate for their employment interests.
- We do not retaliate against or interfere with these rights.
(5) Human Rights Due Diligence
- We properly identify and assess human rights risks and take preventive and corrective measures.
- When necessary, we promote respect for human rights in cooperation with our business partners.
- Relationship with Business Partners
In conducting its business activities, the ZEBRA Group expects its business partners to also respect human rights.
We ask that our business partners understand and cooperate with the following points.
- Respect international standards, including the ILO’s Core Labor Standards
- Comply with the labor laws of each country
- Prohibit child labor and forced labor
- Provide a fair employment environment free from discrimination
The ZEBRA Group, together with its business partners, is committed to building a responsible supply chain that respects human rights. In this way, we will fulfill our responsibilities to consumers and communities.
- Consultation and reporting system
The ZEBRA Group has established an internal reporting system to receive human rights concerns and allegations of violations.
- All employees and stakeholders can safely report concerns of human rights violations.
- We have established a whistleblower system to ensure that no reporter faces retaliation.
We will also cooperate with our business partners to take corrective measures as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement
The ZEBRA Group will continuously review and improve its efforts to respect human rights.
We will conduct regular human rights risk assessments and strive to keep up with the latest international standards and societal demands.
